Transitional Studies - Associate Faculty (Pool posting)

Job Summary/Basic Function:
Teach Transitional Studies classes, including classes in reading, writing, math, science, and/or history for students working toward a high school credential to go on to college level courses or a career. Classes are taught on campus and throughout North Snohomish County. Classes meet during the day and evening hours.

Instructional responsibilities include: assessment, placement, and advising students; development of instructional activities including computer-assisted instruction; and evaluation of learner outcomes based on institutional and federal standards. Other responsibilities include meeting with full and part-time basic skills instructors to select or develop instructional materials and attending other meetings as required.



Minimum Qualifications:
- Masters degree in a related field. Candidates who are currently in a Masters program will also be considered.

- Two years full or part-time experience teaching in an adult learning or high school setting, or equivalent teaching experience.

- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

- Knowledge of current Transitional Studies methodologies and assessment.

- Evidence of commitment to equity, inclusion, and social justice.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Recent experience teaching Transitional Studies at a community college or similar setting.

- Experience teaching multi-level basic skills classes.

- Experience working as a member of a team.

- Experience developing instructional objectives and curriculum.

- Experience developing individual education plans, and maintaining progress, and attendance records.

- Experience with computers and technologically assisted instruction.

- A philosophy of education appropriate to the community college.

- Evidence of willingness to participate in continuing professional development.

- Evidence of positive student evaluations.
