Job Summary
Basic Function and Responsibilities

Michigan Medicine is seeking a Transplant Center Director. The Transplant Center is one of the largest in the nation and spans both adult and pediatric abdominal and thoracic transplantation. The Transplant Center is a national and international leader in patient care, education and research.

Responsibilities*
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

The Transplant Center Director is responsible for development and execution of its strategic plan across the Center for patient care, research and education including establishment of success metrics in conjunction with the Transplant Executive Committee and Organ Program Leadership. The role also provides the leadership oversight of the Transplant Center's operations and compliance/regulatory framework. The Transplant Director works collaboratively with health system leadership and department chairs to recruit and retain faculty needed to meet the Transplant Center's strategic plan.

Organizational Relationships

Direct reporting relationship to the UMHS President.
Partners with the Clinical Leadership Team, Department Chairs, Chief Clinical Officers, Chief Nursing Officers, Service Chiefs, Associate Hospital Directors and Administrators and other hospital and Michigan Medicine leadership to effectively execute the Michigan Medicine strategic plan.

Desired Candidate Leadership Competencies:

Possess strong leadership skills to direct and work collaboratively with the Transplant Surgery, Medicine and Pediatric faculty, respective department chairs, other department faculty members and medical school, medical group practice and hospital leadership teams.
Capable of providing institutional representation of the Transplant Center both inside and outside of the U-M health system.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills that promotes effective collaboration and innovation.
A successful track record of leading others in progressively responsible positions and achieving desired outcomes.

Required Qualifications*
Required Qualifications:

The successful candidate must possess academic credentials to support an appointment at the full professor level and be certified by the American Board of Medical Specialties. Interested individuals must be actively engaged in medical or surgical practice of transplantation and have completed AST certified transplant fellowship or its equivalent.

Applicants must have a M.D. and hold, or have the ability to obtain, the appropriate medical licenses in the State of Michigan. Evidence of scholarly ability (publication in peer reviewed journals, acquisition of external funding, etc.), clinical excellence and commitment to clinical and didactic teaching at all levels is expected.

Background Screening
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
