Job Description:

The Vice Provost of Academic & Student Affairs provides leadership and direction for academics at the college. This progressive educator oversees academic programming and academic support services (retention initiatives, early college programming, Libraries, and Academic Resource Center), Provide thought leadership academic programming, student success, and degree completion. Housed in Brockton, this position provides direction and oversight for all college locations.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provides leadership to academic divisions.
  • Leads the planning, development, and assessment of academic programming.
  • Leads the planning, delivery, and assessment of academic support services, early college programming, retention initiatives, experiential learning, and the libraries.
  • Provides supervision to all direct reports.
  • In partnership with Student Services leadership, co-lead college-wide conversations regarding advising, retention, student success, and degree completion.
  • Work with appropriate offices to ensure all academic & academic support programs and services are gathering meaningful data that can inform program assessment for future improvements.
  • Provide oversight of internal program reviews and external program accreditations to ensure timeliness and quality of reports and other regular submission to accrediting bodies.
  • Develop annual budgets with direct reports and further develop their capacities as budget managers.
  • Identify resources (personnel, facilities, equipment, and technology) needed to maintain academic support programs.
  • Assess program budgets managed by direct reports, including those for various grants including the federal Carl Perkins grant.
  • Ensure the grants are properly managed, that budget expenditures are within the scope of the grant, and that all related reports are properly completed and submitted.
  • Serves as a member of both external and college-wide strategic, operational, and academic committees as designated by the Provost.
  • Represents the Provost as appropriate on committees and task forces.
  • Work closely with Deans and directors in Student Services on shared enrollment, advising, student success, and retention goals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

  • Doctorate in a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in roles of progressive academic leadership, preferably in a community college.
  • An understanding of academic programs and their leadership is required. Experience as a faculty member, department chair, or division dean, considered a plus.
  • Interest in degree completion strategies as well as new software being developed that helps students navigate the college experience and plan for transfer or a career.
  • Leadership that is collaborative, inclusive, and able to help groups navigate disagreements. Leadership that is both respectful of process and results-oriented.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects from beginning to end.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the community college mission, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Excellent personal, communication, analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual
  • Experience with collective bargaining environments
  • Demonstrated success collaborating with areas of the college that impact student learning and progress, especially Enrollment, Advising, Placement, and Financial Aid.

Additional Information:

Position Status: Non-unit Professional, full-time state funded with benefits.

Hours: 37.5 per week

Salary: $124,022.00 - $161,229.00 Commensurate with education and experience.

Worksite: Assignments will include all Massasoit sites
